Lots of smiles delivered!

DCD volunteers at the Ironman 70.3

Sunday may have been a really hot and humid day but it couldn't stop a dedicated group of DC Diamonds from coming out to Run Aid Station #2 and volunteering their time to support the amazing athletes competing in the Ironman 70.3 triathlon.

Our young ladies served up water, ice, fruit, Gatorade, chips, gels, blocks and most importantly - encouragement!  I saw many weary faces on the runners as they approached Aid Station #2 that were beaming with smiles and fresh energy as they departed and continued on their journey.  Our ladies served with enthusiasm and tons of positive energy which boosted both the physical and mental state of the race participants.

If you missed out on your chance this past Sunday don't fret.  We'll be doing this again for the full Ironman on September 10th so mark your calendars now and jump on that volunteer signup when it becomes available later this summer.

Thanks again to all that volunteered their time - you are Diamonds through and through!  And a special thanks to our station Captains, Sarah Mahan and Shawn Nelson, and our Ironman Coordinator, Amy Bernards, for all their extra time and efforts to make this opportunity possible.

See you at the rink!
